Male Chest Surgery – Gynecomastia

How to get rid of man boobs Now, gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for “women-like breasts.” Gynecomastia is actually quite common and may affect only one breast or both. There is no known cause in the vast majority of cases, and surgery is the only known physical remedy. In cases of obesity, weight loss can alter the gynecomastia condition, but for many it will not eliminate it.

Gynecomastia can be emotionally devastating. A man or boy with gynecomastia struggles with anxiety over such simple acts as taking off his shirt at the beach. For men who feel self-conscious about their appearance, breast-reduction surgery can help. The procedure removes fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.

The Procedure

Gynecomastia can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation and takes between 1 and 2 hours. Reduction of breast volume can many times be accomplished with ultrasound assisted liposuction. In some cases, a small incision may need to be made in order to remove tissue directly. In rare cases, skin may be removed from around the areola.

Recovery

Initial recovery time is from 7 to 10 days. The complete recovery time is from 4 to 6 weeks. This means no heavy exercise such as lifting weights, vigorous workouts at the gym, or any other strenuous activity. It may take at least 6 months to a year for the final results.

Results

After surgery, your chest will be flatter, firmer, and better contoured. The results of the procedure are significant and permanent, if a stable weight is maintained. If your expectations are realistic, chances are good that you’ll be very satisfied with your new look.

What is the treatment for small sized gynecomastia other than surgery?
I am a 29 yr old, slim and healthy male,I seem to have gynecomastia. My chest contour from the front is flat and well rounded. But from the side, it looks like i have puffy nipples .Hence from the side, the entire chest contour looks pointed, gently coming to a point at the nipple itself. The region around the nipple is very soft and tender, looking like fat deposit.

So please advice if there are any treatments for same and the places that i can get them treated.

have you seen a doctor. males develope breast tissue from hormonal imbalance. they may be able to adjust your hormones. you may also check your diet. some foods can contain artificial, plant based hormones that can cause problems.

Go to a doctor. By feeling it, he can determine whether its just fat or actual breast tissue. If it’s just fat, it can disappear through weight loss. If it is actual breast tissue, surgery is the only way to get rid of it.

    Hi there,
it is not "for you" to make a surgical diagnosis…okay ?
leave it to an experienced general surgeon…
let him see whether it is really gynaecomastia or only mere adipose deposits….
and let him decide the treatment..if at all it is needed…okay ?
    best wishes…

You claim to be a healthy male. It sounds as though someone may have commented on your chest which has made you self-conscious. If this is the case, consider the source and forget it. If you truly have gynecomastia and it sounds like you don’t, get a professional opinion. Otherwise learn to like yourself as you are. We all; each and everyone, look different. Would’nt this be a very dull world if we all looked the same?
