What would cause a sore chest after exercise?

I’m in my early twenties and I am slim. Whenever I do cardio exercise (which is not often) my chest or lungs hurt. I was just out shoveling the entrance of my driveway which only took about 10 mins and my chest hurts (not my boobs)…it kind of feels tight and I get nauseous. This happens all the time but lasts only about 15 mins…am I just severely out of shape or is there something else going on?

Chest pain is nothing to mess around with. Go see your doctor.

you’re not lifting things correctly. when you lift, you need to use your legs not your chest. trust me, you don’t want to pull anything it’s not a good feeling.

If you do not normally do a lot of upper arm workouts it may be from shoveling. The soreness lasts for a few days, but if it hurts to breathe call the Dr. for more info on what you should do. If it just feels like muscle soreness look at doing some light stretching for the upper body, like some yoga.

Better to be safe than sorry and get checked out by the doctor especially when chest pain is involved. He or she can perhaps do an ekg (electrocardiogram) which is painless to see the heart waves/electrical impulses and perhaps send you for some blood work. I would especially not fool around with symptoms of chest pain. Please get clearance from your dr before exercising or physically exerting yourself.

Your problem is chronic lack of exercise…. You’re heart isn’t as strong as it should be…. The nausea is irregular blood circulation caused by ahear that isn’t use to working….

It may be something else though… If it’s only when you workout then tone down the workout a little until your body gets use to it….

If it doesn’t go away after a little then go to your doctor and explain the situation to them….

Sounds like you may just need to work out more. When you exert yourself your lungs and specifically the bracchiole are not used to such a large volume of air moving through them. This causes the burning sensation in your lungs. In turn The tissue and muscles surrounding your lungs and your diaphragm is not used to the strain and just like any other muscle will let you know it.
Do some more cardio on a regular basis and strenghthen your core with ab workouts and lower back excersises.
